My name is Sydney K. Pobee. I am a photographer, art director, and AI image-maker creating visual stories across the world we can capture and the worlds we can imagine.
My Practice
Photography is the foundation of my work. AI image-making extends that foundation, giving me another way to develop characters, environments, fashion narratives, and campaign-ready visual worlds. The technology is a tool; storytelling, taste, and human perspective remain at the center.
How I Got Started
My interest in photography began early, when my father, Samuel K. Pobee, brought me to his studio, Modern Photos, in Accra, Ghana. He often handed me a camera for school events, though many early frames were overexposed or blank because I was more excited by the experience than the result.
One memory that stays with me is attending a wedding with my father and his staff. He handed me a camera and said, “Sonny boy, here’s a camera for you. Smile, take photos, and don’t forget to introduce yourself.” I was nervous, but as I moved through the event making photographs, my confidence grew. That experience—and the time I spent beside him—still shapes how I connect with people through images.
Looking Ahead
Through Sydney K Pobee Studio, I continue to explore portraiture, editorial photography, creative direction, and emerging visual tools. Whether a story is photographed, imagined, or built through both, my goal is the same: to create imagery with feeling, clarity, and a point of view.
