About Me
My name is Sydney K. Pobee, and I am a photographer and AI image-maker. Through Sydney K Pobee Studio, I create across photography, art direction, and emerging visual tools—exploring both the world around us and worlds imagined.
How I Got Started
People often ask me, “What inspired you to become a photographer?” My interest began at an early age when my father, Samuel K. Pobee, would bring me to his studio, Modern Photos, in Accra, Ghana, on weekends. I didn’t fully understand why, but I loved being with him. He often gave me a camera to bring to school events, though most of my photos were overexposed or blank because I was more excited about the fun than capturing it.
One memory that stands out is attending a wedding with my father and his staff. He handed me a camera and said, “Sonny boy, here’s a camera for you. Smile, take photos, and don’t forget to introduce yourself.” I was nervous, but somehow, as I wandered around photographing the event, my confidence grew. I’m grateful for that experience and for the time I spent with my father.
