ABOUT MEMy name is Sydney K Pobee, and I am a Professional Photographer. I shoot a diverse range of subjects by exploring the basic elements of photography.
I want to share something with you. I am regularly asked this question when people see my work: "What made you get into photography?"
Well, I was at a young age, my father, Samuel K Pobee, would always bring me to his work on the weekends at Modern Photos in Accra, Ghana. I did not know the reason behind that; nevertheless, I always loved being around my father. He would always give me a camera to take to school whenever there was an event. However, I would always come home with overexposed photos or no photos at all, mainly because I was only excited about the events rather than photographing them.
I remember attending a wedding with my father and a few employees. My father said to me, "Sonny boy, here's a camera for you. Smile, take photos and don't forget to introduce yourself. Man, was I nervous! but someway, somehow I gained confidence as I walked around photographing. I am grateful to have been around my father.
